Star Communications is a nonprofit cooperative owned and operated by its members. Doing business in the counties of Bladen, Sampson, Cumberland, Duplin, and Columbus, the organization serves members by offering affordable and highest-quality communications services, especially internet. The organization is located in Clinton, North Carolina. After flooding from Hurricane Matthew and Florence flooded out the previous headquarters, employees were spread out over five temporary locations for years. This project creates a new, permanent home for all Star employees to work in, and a central location for members/customers to do business.

This new 11.5-acre home, located at 1322 Sunset Avenue in Clinton, includes a new 33,000 SF two-story Headquarters Building and a 9,000 SF, one-story Operations Building. The Headquarters Building includes a public-facing transaction area, large- and small-scale meeting spaces, multiple office suites, customer drive-thru capability, and a dedicated space for the Star Board of Directors. The Operations Building, located behind the Headquarters, includes a number of back-of-house support spaces, as well as a state-of-the-art broadcast studio. A sizable portion of the new property is being converted to pedestrian-friendly, vegetative green space for employees to enjoy and recharge. The building is to be LEED certified, the first of its kind in Sampson County.
