In 2024, JKF Architecture was selected by Sampson Community College (SCC) to design a new Nursing and Allied Health Building, to be located on the main campus in Clinton, North Carolina. The new 36,048 SF building is the first building on campus dedicated solely to health science programs. This state-of-the-art facility will expand SCC’s capacity to graduate healthcare professionals and address critical labor shortages through needed modern classrooms, simulation labs, and hands-on training. The building will house and support programs including Nursing, Nurse Aide, Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, Surgical Technology, Pharmacy Technology, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)/Paramedic.

Significant square footage within the building is dedicated to placing students in a “real-world” hospital environment, reflecting the experience from EMS arrival to triage and patient care. Simulation space includes an emergency room, EMS lab with ambulance access, medical office, residential care environment, and other hands-on learning spaces. The building includes both indoor and outdoor study space for students, as well as a faculty office suite, conferencing capability, general purpose classrooms, and restrooms. SCC’s Nursing and Allied Health Building represents much more than a building – it is an investment in SCC students, the local healthcare workforce, and the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.
